On Saturday 10th & Sunday 11thOctober 2015 the Rushden Historic Transport Society (RHTS) turns back the clock to 1940s’ wartime England for a weekend of Home Front nostalgia, featuring a steam-train passenger service, steam-driven road and rail vehicles, 1940s’ civilian and military vehicles, living history displays, archive film shows, the Law at War and more. The Blitz Sisters will be playing all of your British wartime favourites and, for the dancers, will be joined on Sunday by the Mainline Big Band. It can mean a thing if your feet just won’t swing ~ you could use them to triple-step along to the 5-star rated buffet car, a ration-buster if ever there was one, and then Keep Calm and Carry On to the CAMRA award-winning bar. From here it’s just a short stagger, 2 minutes or less, to Station 109’s Vintage Emporium, where you can Step back in Time with a free glass of wine (or more), relax in the back room to the sound of 40s’ music, watch one of our 40s’ newsreels or swing-music compilations and buy yourself a piece or two of the past. Be Seeing You!
