The Rushden Historical Transport Society (RHTS)
The Rushden Historical Transport Society (RHTS) is just across the road from Station 109 Vintage & Militaria. As many of you may already know, it has one of the best stocked and best kept real ale bars in the county of Northamptonshire. But it’s not all about Beer (Oh, really?).
Headquartered in the Old Midland Railway Station of 1894, which once formed part of the Wellingborough to Higham Ferrers branch line, and voted Winner of the 2012 People’s Choice at the Northamptonshire Heritage Awards, the RHTS has a working railway, an excellent museum and holds a number of special events throughout the year, which are, of course, open to the public. The photographs here, for example, are from the recent Santa Specials weekend. Information about the themed events scheduled for 2014 are available from the website: www.rhts.co.uk. Membership, which helps to support the preservation of this important part of England’s transport heritage and gives you unbridled access to the Victorian-themed bar, is well worth considering, details of which are available at http://www.rhts.co.uk/support.html.
