RUSHDEN 1940s’ Home Front Wartime Weekend
Saturday 18th & Sunday 19th October 2014 is Rushden Station’s (RHTS) 1940s’ Weekend. Last year’s event witnessed a record turnout, and there’s every reason to believe that this year will be no different. Nostalgia yourselves with the steam-hauled passenger service, steam-driven road and rail vehicles, civilian & military vehicles, living history displays, archive film shows etc; unration yourselves with an affordable hot or cold meal in the 5-star rated buffet car; and Keep Calm & Carry On Drinking in the CAMRA award-winning bar. On Saturday evening at 7.30pm Station 109 is holding a 1940s’ Entertainment/Dance at the John White Golf Club Rushden, where you can strut your stuff, enjoy the 40s’ atmosphere or join us in propping up the bar. On Sunday, there’s a memorial service during the day and the music continues with the Mainline Band. Mr Twitching will be blowing his own trumpet, as usual, and deviating from last year by hitting all the right notes. But don’t let that confound you. The bar’s not far away and if dancing is not your bag then stagger across to our vintage emporium: Step back in Time with Station 109 for a glass of wine, 40s’ music, 40s’ newsreels and buy yourself a piece or two of the past. Be Seeing You.
It’s that sort of place!!
