EDWARDIAN BAROMETER ART NOUVEAU
The barometer dial is housed in a gun-metal grey bezel. The silvered ‘chapter ring’ on the inside of the dial is tarnished, but the words ‘ FALLING for Wet, Warmer or More Wind’ and ‘ RISING for Dry, Cold or Less Wind’ are visible. The register gauge, also ‘silvered’, is in very good condition.
The barometer gauge is adjusted by twisting the knob at the front, which in turn moves the ‘chapter ring’ to line up with the pointer. The barometer hand moves as it should but the movement is slight, suggesting that the mechanism needs attention.
Approximate height of the barometer from feet to crown: 27.5cm [10 3/4ins]; width at base 21cm [8 1/4ins]
Approximate diameter of barometer: 11.5cm [41/2ins]
Approximate diameter of glass: 9cm [31/2ins]
