Vintage 1950s’ Wedding Dress in Original John Lewis Box Plus Accessories
Original vintage, c.1950s’, wedding dress. Stunning in its mimimalist design the dress is made of a faux satin with white faux fur trims to the cuffs and hemline. The full-length train flows dramatically from the shoulders to floor level. It fastens on two hooks and eyes, giving a pleated and vented effect below the shoulders, whilst the dress itself is zip fastening at the back.
The dress, which has been stored since the wedding day in its original John Lewis box, would obviously benefit from an iron. It has some light age/wear related marks, especially at the very base of the train, but as the photographs show it is in very good condition for its vintage years!
As well as the original box, there are also original accessories, including the bride’s faux fur and floral decorated head dress, two brides’ maids’ head dresses, a shoe-shaped adornment and a lucky black cat with a loop at the back for wearing on the wrist. The wedding-day shoes are also present, bearing the maker’s name Freeman, Hardy, Willis (marked Size 6).
