WWII BRITISH ARMY WOOLEN COLLARLESS SHIRT: LARGE
SORRY THIS ITEM IS SOLD
For auction a WWII British Army Collarless Shirt, issued to Other Ranks: Large Size.
The shirt is in excellent vintage condition, the only observation being that there is an overlapping hem on both sleeves close to the elbow region. The overlapping material is of equal distance on each sleeve and the thread used commensurate with that used elsewhere. Both the upper sleeve and lower match perfectly, so we must assume that this alteration/addition is contemporary to the 1940s and part of its service history.
The inside of the collar is marked with the War Department Broad Arrow and what is most likely the maker’s name beginning with a ‘B’, but the remainder is indistinct.
The two buttons at the front of the shirt are of the gunmetal-grey variety, so pre-war or early war; the cuff buttons are hard plastic and khaki.
The following measurements are taken with the shirt laid flat and are careful approximations:
Underarm to Underarm: 22 1/2ins
Collar to Hem: 38ins2ins
Shoulder Seam to Cuff: 23ins
