WWII BRITISH ARMY WOOLLEN COLLARLESS SHIRT

SORRY. THIS ITEM IS SOLD!!

{Note: If Photographs suggest that there is fading to this shirt ~ this is not the case, it is merely the light}

This WWII British Army Collarless Shirt, issued to Other Ranks ~ woollen. For a 60-year-old+ garment, the shirt has travelled through time rather well. On close examination, all we could discover was a couple of tiny moth nibbles no larger than a pin head.

The inside of the collar is marked with the War Department Broad Arrow, next to which are the maker’s initials R.E.H. Co. Ltd. Next to this there are some figures in black ink ‘0540’ and more writing in faded ink, which we cannot quite make out. There is also a series of figures very clearly marked in black ink: ‘14860540’. A hanging loop has been sewn into the back of the collar, and this also bears inked lettering which is difficult to decipher.

There are two buttons at the front of the shirt: one is green, original army issue; the other is of a brittle early plastic and actually looks older. The two cuff buttons are present.  There are two or three small stains on the back lower left that we believe are blood stains ~ but don’t be squeamish, these are small and simply mentioned for accuracy.

The following measurements are taken with the shirt laid flat and are careful approximations:

Underarm to Underarm: 20 1/2ins

Collar to Hem: 35 1/2ins

Shoulder Seam to Cuff: 21 1/2ins
